Firefox tweaks ad tracker blocking to stop breaking websites

Mozilla is improving its approach with a new Firefox tool called ‘enhanced tracking protection’ for keeping site and advertisers from stalking your online activities.
In the new Firefox 63, the feature has arrived, released on Tuesday; however, it’s been disabled by default for now. It’s intended to cause fewer problems with sites than the tracking protection that has been introduced as an option in Firefox 57 November, which was found by Mozilla, possibly will break websites and block advertisements.
Many of us run ad blockers, but the purpose of the tracking protection tool is clearly something else; blocking the advertisers from resolving who we are as we skip from site to site.
The balance has been changing, though. A rising fraction of Firefox users have made tracking protection possible, and Apple’s Safari has shortened tracking considerably while Brave Software’s Brave has tried to block it altogether. Firefox is creating the tracking protection feature in reply and response to “shifting market conditions and an increase in user demand for more privacy security,” said by the nonprofit organization.
You can be tracked by websites by placing text files called cookies on your PC or mobile device. Cookies tend to allow plenty of useful things – for instance, remembering that French is your favored language or that you put charging cable in your e-commerce shopping cart. But your identity can also be recorded by cookies. Also, cookies can help companies log where you’ve been.
Let’s find out the new tracking protection preferences
In Firefox 63 preferences, you can now see a section for handling third-party cookies. If the blocking is enabled, you’ll find two options: blocking trackers and blocking all third-party cookies. The new first option is something more recommended by Mozilla. And Mozilla hopes to enable it by default in early 2019.
The tracking protection may still be able to cause problems. You can disable it for a particular site just by tapping on the shield icon that prompts on the left side of Firefox’s address bar.
Mozilla initially rolled out another phase of its Firefox tracking crackdown, jamming trackers that slow websites down. Still, it had to abandon its initial approach. “Consequently, we are discovering some options as substitute targeted at the same outcome with much faster page loads,” said by Mozilla.
Firefox 63 also brings some other features:

  •  On Windows 10 device, the themed look of Firefox is now following the operating system’s setting for light and dark modes.
  •  Windows versions need to run faster as a result of a new system to build Firefox. And MacOS versions should switch tabs more rapidly and take action more quickly to perform things like scrolling actions and mouse clicks.
  •  A new search shortcuts feature has also been added that pins Google and Amazon to the top sites list that is likely to appear when a new tab is open. Note that the feature is offered only in the United States.
  •  On iOS, Firefox is now supporting Siri shortcuts for opening a new tab with a voice command, with additional options due in the coming months.
  •  The new computer users changing tabs with the Ctrl-Tab or Cmd-Tab keyboard shortcuts will now be able to see their most in recent times used tabs first, accessible with thumbnail images. However, existing users are more likely to see the existing behavior, which sets to the right on the tab strip, an option that can be turned on in preferences.
  •  Good news for website developers. The developers whoever wants to use the 3D graphics technology called WebGL but who don’t need maximum horsepower may train the Macs not to fan the flames of their more power-hungry fanatical graphics chip, depending instead on the chief Intel processor in order to make battery life longer.
